INTUITIVELY DESIGNED
When I created Radiate I set an intention to create a blend that helped the user to feel free to radiate their true essence. I started with a favorite oil of mine that is known for helping to balance and unite the chakras and then added oils that have specific energetic properties that would support my intention. It’s here where I got stuck. I tried commonly blended oils, I tried books, everything but just letting go.
It was that night while drifting out of a lucid sleep I could smell cardamom so fresh in my mind. It was so powerful that I got up and sifted through my oil collection to find it and add it to the blend. It balanced the blend perfectly. I almost burst out laughing the next morning when I read the energetic properties of cardamom: grounding and balancing, it helps to bring spiritual and physical life into balance.
Here this little oil was not only completing my blend but it was whispering loudly in my ear that I needed balance. I needed to put away the books and sit with my intuition. I needed to trust in myself and my abilities.

BUILDING THE BLEND
Each master blend at THARA SACRA is formulated to work with our energy. When researching an oil or absolute I start out with what affect I’m trying to achieve for the overall blend. For example, does it need to be grounding, opening, or balancing. I then research each potential botanical to understand its role within the plant structure. Is it a resin known for helping to heal a tree by soothing over its scars or a root that helps to ground the tree. All this information goes into helping me understand how this botanical might act aromatically to support the user’s practice. Then when sampling the essential oil or absolute I take note of the subtle effect it has on the emotional body or how the aroma makes me feel. It’s only after that point I start to work on what will be the base, middle, and top notes. For a deeper dive into why I choose each part of a blend I’ve outlined below why each oil was chosen for my signature blend Radiate.
CARDAMOM
Grounding and balancing. Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) assists with bringing ones spiritual and physical life into balance. Known as the Queen of spices, Cardamom has a spicy sweet aromatic profile. Its warmth promotes grounding and its wholeness promotes balance. I’ve used it in this blend predominately for its balancing effect on the chakras. The lower chakras (root, sacral, solar plexus) govern how we relate in this earthly plane. The upper chakras (throat, third eye, crown) govern how we relate and connect with the spiritual plane. When we are balanced between these two halves we are inturn radiating our truest self outward to the universe.
SWEET ORANGE
Uplifting and invigorating. Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) helps to balance and clear the sacral chakra keeping one in the present moment. The sacral chakra is “where our being is established,” our seat of self. I think of it as the sacred container where the essence us resides. Being balanced and open in this chakra center allows us the freedom to radiate that playful, vibrant energy that comes from being totally grounded in who we are. Imagine the energy you feel when you first peel open and smell an orange. Its fresh, bright scent evokes a joyful childlike energy. This same feeling is how we feel when our sacral chakra is in complete balance.
DAVANA
Empowering and reflective. Davana helps to break through limitations and expand ideas. Sweet, fruity, and boozy, Davana (Artemisia pallens) is a sacred herb indigenous to South India. Its flowers have been used traditionally in religious and sacred ceremonies honoring Lord Shiva, The Destroyer. Don't get too put off by that description. Destruction is necessary for transformation and rebirth. Rebirth helps us free ourselves from limitations and the more free we are from limitations in thought, the more free we are to radiate our own truth. It also has the unique property of emitting a different aroma to each person that uses it. In this way it helps to automatically reflect each users individual spirit.
NEROLI
Opening and stimulating. Neroli (Citrus aurantium L. var. amara) helps open the heart chakra to the vibration of love and stimulates the crown chakra. It’s sweet, floral aroma has an almost intoxicating and sedative quality to it. The heart chakra sits between the upper and lower chakras and acts as the bridge between the physical and divine. Keeping us balanced between these two planes helps us stay rooted in the present moment without fear. When we are open in our hearts and grounded in our bodies we are also able to give and radiate universal love freely.
ELEMI
Balancing and uniting. Elemi (Canarium luzonicum) helps to move energy through the body uniting all the chakras and bringing balance to mind, body, and spirit. This sacred oil comes from the resin of the Elemi tree native to the Philippines. Similar to Frankincense and Myrrh it is a beautiful oil to use to enhance meditation or sacred practices. It has a clean, lemony woody, aroma with musky hints that invites a calming peaceful energy. It’s used in this blend for its chakra balancing properties and it’s assistance in opening the solar plexus. Like the sun, when we are grounded in our power we radiate light.
